How Do I Get Started?

GPS is rapidly becoming an integral part of our everyday lives. From mobile phones to automobiles, GPS answers big questions: “Where am I?” “Where am I heading?” “What’s the best way to get where I want to go?” What if there was a GPS that could help you answer those questions on a deeper level? Couldn’t you use an occasional indicator of where you are on the journey of following Jesus and how to take your Next Big Step?

We at North Valley Baptist Church are here to help you on this journey toward spiritual growth. My Next Big Step is designed to help you get connected to God, to grow in your faith and equip you to serve Him.

My first Big Step is to get connected.

• Connect to God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior. The back of this brochure will instruct you on how to take this first step.
• Talk with the pastor about baptism.
• Go to church every week and stay connected through small groups and worship.

My second Big Step is to make a commitment to grow in my faith.

• Sign up for and attend a weekly small groups class that meets on Sunday morning.
• Sign up for “Finding Your Way Through Faith” discipleship.
• Move from becoming a regular attendee to becoming a member. Sign up for the “New Members” class.

My third Big Step is to serve God through the ministries of the church.

• Take the Spiritual gifts survey to help you discover your spiritual giftedness.
• Find a place you can serve by checking the information posted at the serve table.
• Make an appointment with the church office to help get you started serving.

Just like the GPS makes navigation simple, getting started in your journey as a Christian is also fairly straight forward. Here at North Valley Baptist Church we are focused on three primary areas of responsibility in our path to growing closer to God; connect, grow and serve. These lead us to six disciplines that bring us to maturity as a body of Christ followers. Like our personal trips, getting started is always the hardest part of the journey. So we invite you to join us as we travel through life and together we will reach our final destination; eternal life with God.
